Suspensions and Fines: We Love the Play Offs

Jarkko Ruutu will not be playing in Game Five of the Predators/Ducks series due to a suspension from a late hit that he laid on Martin Erat.

It looked like a legal shoulder to the head hit (stupid rule) but it was late. And it's Ruutu so what did Anaheim expect?

A Chicago Blackhawks columnist called the Canucks 'gutless' after Kevin Bieksa went after Viktor Stalberg and just wiped the ice with his pretty face. He said that there was a lot of these types of frustrated plays going on and that Vignault encourages the behavior.

Strong words, sir. And this was before Game Five at Rogers Arena.

Andrew Ference scored a goal in Game Four last night and then flipped off the Bell Centre crowd.

Which is awesome. Here is video proof:

Then he was fined $2,500 for doing it. Hahahahaha. Thank god the Bruins won in OT or he would have looked like a dick. We love that move, so funny.

More whining from coaches: Lindy Ruff gets in on it and accuses the Flyers of whining after Game Four. And Peter Laviolette pretends to laugh it off like it's nothing.

Boo-hoo.

Award News:

Lady Byng nominees are: Nick Lidstrom (yawn), Martin St. Louis (that's cause they can't see him) and Loui Eriksson (interesting...)

Vezina nominees are: Roberto Luongo (wish they had an award for best defense corps), Tim Thomas (again) and Pekka Rinne (yay Pekka Rinne, aiight!)
