Quarterfinals: Day Eight

#1 Washington Capitals / #8 New York Rangers

Capitals lead series 3-1 after a (crushing) 4-3 win in 2nd OT

Everything looked okay for the Rangers. They were up 3-0 and had possession in the offensive zone most of the game.

But if you're a true blue Rangers fan then you knew it wouldn't last. The Capitals stormed back adn scored three goals to tie the game.

Then it went to OT. And then second OT.

It was simple dump in play by the Capitals and Henrik Lundqvist was going to play it. Until Marian Gaborik got in the way, tried to push the puck past the net but instead of going behind the net, it popped up into Jason Chimera's body who was behind Lundqvist and he promptly deposited the puck into the net.

Awful way to lose.

#4 Pittsburgh Penguins / #5 Tampa Bay Lightning

Penguins lead series 3-1 after a 3-2 win in 2nd OT

When can we put a bounty on Martin St. Louis's head? Because the little rat bastard is being annoyingly awesome for Tampa.

He must have some special power over Fleury or something.

The hit from Eric Brewer on Max Talbot was a scary moment. We were sure he was done for but we're happy that he came back and played.

Without Max...we don't want to think about it.

Watching the game, LeTude called James Neal with the winner. The rest of us laughed at her and we don't know why. She called Patrick Kane's Stanley Cup winner last season. And she called Marian Hossa's winner in OT against the New York Rangers three seasons ago.

We have never been more excited for LeTude to be right.

#2 Philadelphia Flyers / #7 Buffalo Sabres

Sabres even series after a 1-0 win in Buffalo

It was the Ryan Miller show.

The Flyers threw almost everything they had at him and he was up to the task. He mad saves in close on Daniel Briere and far away from Kimmo Timonen.

It didn't matter where the pucks were coming from.

Jason Pominville scored the only goal.

And the end of the game promised more craziness when shit just went down.

There were people being dragged on the ice and punches thrown and Patrick Kaleta was goading players from the Flyers to "come and get me" from the bench.

#4 Anaheim Ducks / #5 Nashville Predators

Ducks even series 2-2 after a 6-3 win in Nashville

This is the series to watch, seriously.

Have you seen two teams just go at it like these two? It's always an exciting game to watch no matter what happens.

It looked like the everything was going okay going into the third. The teams were tied after both being down by one and tying the game.

But something happened.

It was either the failure of Pekka Rinne or the Ducks just found their scoring touch but it was electric. We were stunned when we saw the score after flipping from the end of the Penguins game.

When has Nashville given up 6 goals this season? We don't remember it.

Game Five's gonna be awesome.

#3 Detroit Red Wings / #6 Phoenix Coyotes

Red Wings win series 4-0 with a 6-3 win in Phoenix

What a disappointment.

At least they put up a fight last season and took it to seven games then lost.

We thought that with Shane Doan and the leadership he brought the Coyotes would be alright.

But it just goes to show how the Red Wings Red Machine just doesn't quit and they steam-rolled their way into the semi-finals.

Hope they have a lot of 'Murder She Wrote' DVD box sets ready and Sudoku puzzle books because it's gonna be a long wait.

Sorry, we're still bitter from 2008. People don't forget.
