Links for Wednesday

- The Leafs finally fired Ron Wilson and he was replaced by Randy Carlyle. And they won in his debut.


- Speaking of the Leafs, they re-signed Mikhail Grabovski to a five-year contract extension.


- The top 15 finalists for Kraft Hockeyville 2012 were announced on Saturday.


- We talked about it here but Puck Daddy had an excellent article on Patrick Burke and the You can Play campaign.


- Everyone's talking about the 2014 Olympics and Steve Yzerman was named as the Team Canada Executive Director. Duh. If they picked anyone else we would have rioted and we're Americans.


- Erik Karlsson was fined $2,500 for his slash on Sean Bergenheim.


- NHL 36: James Neal premieres tonight and is anyone else as excited as we are for it? Gonna be so boss.


- Due to the injury to Rask, the Bruins signed Marty Turco and he had to clear waivers but he did and will now be joining the Bruins as their backup.


- The New York Rangers finally got rid of their Avery problem by just asking him not to show up for anything.


- EJ Hradek has the EJ Express on NHL.com today and we love quick tidbits so thought we would share them.



Injuries, not again:

- Tuukka Rask was injured in the Bruins game against the Islanders and will be out for 4-6 weeks.

- Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is out for at least a couple more games with a suspected concussion. We still hate him.

- The Flyers lost two defensemen, Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros, to lower-body injuries.

- Zach Bogosian is out at least a week for the Jets with another injury.

- Nicklas Backstrom has gone back to Sweden to be with his family while he deals with this concussion.

- Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard is out again with an injury.

- Mathieu Garon (Lightning goaltender) will be out 3-4 weeks with a groin injury.

- Joffrey Lupul will be out 3-4 weeks after suffering a separated shoulder in last night's game against the Bruins.

- The Flyers will be without both Jakub Voracek and Jaromir Jagr who were both injured in the Flyers game against the Red Wings last night.
